(Mac-D Vs) The Space Rodent

When a misfit group of friends in a small town encounters a ravenous alien rodent during a chaotic Halloween night, their survival depends on wit, makeshift weapons, and embracing their inner heroes.

REVIEWS

The Space Rodent is an amusing comedy/horror which delightfully pays tribute to the creature horror genre and many classic tropes of cult cinema from the 80s and 90s.

"The Space Rodent" is an unlikely source of fun, perhaps, but I can't deny that I had a good time watching this movie and felt like I was pretty entertained from start to finish. I was never bored; I can say that with certainty.

the cast and crew combined KNOW what this movie IS. It's pure escapism, it's ridiculous, it's impressively crude, and intentionally over the top.

you have to give these cats a lot of credit for generating the amount of fun that they somehow create. It is an entertaining film, more so than you'd probably assume, and that's kind of a strange testament to their combined commitment to follow through on a concept that most would have likely passed on.

Evan O'Hare, who plays a random stranger called Sam, also deserves his own film - or trilogy of films…complete anthology, maybe…I dunno…you get it; the guy's a genius

The rats themselves are definitely fun and look pretty damn cool, even if we're fairly aware of them not being 'real.'

Mac, with his charming, boyish Bruce Campbell look, is fun. Dean, with his Egon/Revenge of the Nerds vibe, is fun.

The Space Rodent Poster Art

Halloween night in Cavell, Il. starts as a typical evening of costumes and candy, but the small-town calm is shattered when a ravenous alien rodent crash-lands in the neighborhood. Mac, Dean, Amanda, and Skyler—a group of misfit friends with their own share of personal struggles—find themselves at the epicenter of the chaos. What begins as playful banter and bizarre antics soon spirals into a fight for survival as they come face-to-face with the creature’s deadly attacks.

With no help in sight, the friends must rely on their creativity and questionable teamwork to take on the alien menace. Armed with duct-taped weapons and sheer determination, they navigate the night’s escalating dangers, battling their own fears and the mounting absurdity of their situation. From harrowing close calls to laugh-out-loud mishaps, the group’s journey is as hilarious as it is heart-pounding.

As the night unfolds, their survival depends not just on defeating the creature, but on embracing their quirks and standing together. Packed with humor, action, and a touch of the absurd, “MAC-D vs The Space Rodent” delivers a fresh take on the alien invasion genre, proving that sometimes, the unlikeliest of heroes rise to the occasion.

CAST

The wonderful cast of Mac-D Vs The Space Rodent

Robert Carrera

Role: MAC

Mac (30s), a charming yet aimless jack-of-all-trades, currently ``in between jobs,`` with an unapologetic streak of laziness masked by his sharp wit and humor. While his laid-back attitude often leads to friction with his girlfriend Amanda, his loyalty to his friends shines when the chips are down. Beneath his sarcastic exterior lies a man who craves purpose, and his unorthodox methods often lead to unexpected moments of heroism.

David Minard

Role: DEAN

Dean (30s), is Mac’s best friend, a self-proclaimed alien conspiracy enthusiast who takes pride in his DIY home renovations and collection of obscure alien literature. His quirky, lighthearted demeanor is contrasted by moments of surprising insight and bravery. While often the comic relief, Dean’s steadfast belief in extraterrestrials and his resourcefulness make him a key player in the group's fight against the alien menace.

Shelby Broadnax

Role: SKYLER

Skyler (Late 20s), is Amanda’s best friend and a darkly confident, no-filter individual who thrives on blunt humor and bold statements. Dressed as a vampire for Halloween, she exudes charisma and takes pride in her ability to remain cool under pressure. However, when faced with the alien creature, Skyler’s quick thinking and dry wit evolve into acts of bravery, proving she’s more than just the group’s sassiest member.

Leah Bernard

Role: AMANDA

Amanda (Late 20s), is Mac’s fiercely independent and pragmatic girlfriend, working as a bartender to keep their lives afloat while Mac figures out his career. Though exasperated by Mac’s antics, her love for him keeps her grounded—until the arrival of the alien forces her to channel her inner strength. A natural problem-solver, Amanda is the glue that holds the group together, balancing no-nonsense leadership with moments of vulnerability.

Evan O'hare

Role: SAM

Sam (40s), is a well-meaning but slightly creepy roadside helper dressed in a tan jumpsuit with a questionable level of professionalism. His unnerving demeanor and ill-fated attempt to assist Amanda and Skyler make him both a comedic interlude and a tragic casualty in the alien rodent's rampage.

Ty Pennington

Role: The Crow

The Crow (17), is an emo goth enthusiast who finds herself caught in the middle of the chaos after an ill-advised trick-or-treating session. Sporting a sarcastic, unenthusiastic attitude, she becomes a victim of the alien’s ferocity. Though not a central hero, her dramatic misfortune provides both tension and humor, highlighting the creature's deadly nature.

Lord Ganak

CAST

Lord Ganark is the Alpha predator of the alien species, a towering and grotesquely majestic creature that exudes both primal ferocity and a chilling, otherworldly intelligence. Unlike the smaller alien rodent, Ganark is a calculated hunter with an aura of dominance, displaying strategic behavior that suggests it's more than just a mindless beast. Its sleek, spiked exoskeleton, bioluminescent markings, and bone-chilling roar set it apart as a true apex predator. As the ultimate antagonist, Ganark's appearance escalates the danger, forcing the group to confront not just survival but the reality of a larger extraterrestrial threat looming over them.

The Space Rodent

CAST

The Alien Rodent is a bizarre, otherworldly creature with a deceptively cute but grotesque appearance, combining features of a raccoon, rodent, and an alien predator. Its glowing red eyes and ravenous hunger are only matched by its surprising intelligence and ability to outmaneuver its prey. The creature’s relentless pursuit of food and destruction turns the small town of Cavell into its personal hunting ground, making it the ultimate antagonist in this comedic horror tale.
